(#374, Mudcrutch by Mudcrutch)
For those of you not "in the know", Mudcrutch was a popular band in Gainesville Florida in the early 70s, but failed to make any waves, and a few of the members of the band would then form a band that many of you know as Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. They turned out alright, it's fair to say. In 2007, the original members of Mudcrutch got together after 32 years of being a apart, and recorded this album. There are talks of a second album, which I would embrace with open arms. Personal favorites from this album are "Shady Grove", "Scare Easy", "Crystal River", "O Maria" and "Queen of the Go-Go Girls".
This is "Scare Easy" ...
(#373, Home Made Heart by James Tristan Redding and Nic "Theo" Rublein)
If you don't know the name James Tristan Redding yet, don't worry, you will soon. James released his solo debut, Walking Into Brooklyn, on 11.12.13, and over the past 10 years, has released many albums with his former band, Union Pulse, most of which can be found on iTunes.
This recording, which sees James and his buddy, Nic "Theo" Rublein perform mostly cover songs, gives the listener some insight on what to expect from James in the future. What I like most about this recording is that James and Nic have turned three or four songs that I didn't think I liked into tracks that I now pull out quite frequently. All of these songs were recorded in one day, and are definitely worth listening to.
