(#26, For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver)
I remember the first time I heard "Skinny Love" on the Paste Samplers in 2008, I thought it was the best song that Paste had ever included on their monthly mix, and I still think that today. I didn't know until a few months later that the brainchild behind Bon Iver was named Justin Vernon, and that he recorded this entire album in Medford, WI.
I felt like a proud big brother the night he played Letterman for the first time, wearing a Wisconsin Badgers shirt.
Though the band's future plans are uncertain, this record still holds up, and will always be a favorite of mine.
Take a listen to "Flume" and "Skinny Love" ...
