I'm sure I've said this a billion time in my life. In my opinion, there was no better era for albums than early to mid 70s Elton John records. This was one of those masterpieces, and was the very first album to debut at #1, and spent 7 weeks at the top of the charts.
Take a listen to "Tower of Babel" and "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" ...
