840. "Cool Dry Place" (Traveling Wilburys, Vol 3, 1990)
I love the idea of the "supergroup", and this one was awesome.
839. "Always A Friend" (Alejandro Escovedo, Real Animal, 2008)
Paste comes through again, and Jamie comes through with the full album.
838. "Down Among the Wine and Spirits" (Elvis Costello, ...Sugarcane, 2009)
Maybe my daughter's favorite song right now.
837. "Owner of a Lonely Heart" (Yes, 90125, 1984)
Sorry, Maria.
836. "Days Without Paracetamol" (Snow Patrol, Songs for Polarbears, 1999)
A thank you to Dan Lozoff for introducing these guys to me.
835. "A Million Ways" (OK Go, Oh No, 2005)
One of my new favorite bands.
834. "The Hook" (Stephen Malkmus, Stephen Malkmus, 2001)
My boy Todd says this is the best album of the last 10 years.
833. "Happy" (The Special Goodness, Pinecone Record, 1999)
Another tune from Pat Wilson's baby.
832. "Three More Days" (Ray LaMontagne, Till the Sun Turns Black, 2006)
I had no idea who he was when he was on SNL. Now I'm a huge fan.
831. "Evening in June" (Van Morrison, What's Wrong With This Picture, 2003)
One of the best pure singers around.
830. "These Are Days" (10,000 Maniacs, Our Time in Eden, 1992)
This song marks time for me. Music does that.
829. "Carolina Rain" (Ryan Adams, 29, 2005)
I have a lot of friends who can't stand Ryan Adams. He has a couple of records that I always come back to, and this is one of them.
828. "So Beautiful" (David Poe, The Late Album, 2005)
Put this at the top of the list of albums I have to buy with future iTunes gift cards.
827. "House" (Elton John, Made in England, 1995)
This was Elton John's last really good album.
826. "On My Own" (LaBelle & McDonald, 20th Century Masters, 1986)
There is a great video on youtube of JD Ryznar and his girlfriend lyp-synching to this song. Ryznar was on a train, and the girl was outside of her home. Very funny. Yacht rock lives!
825. "Reason to Believe" (Harry Connick Jr, Star Turtle, 1995)
A unique Connick recording, a concept album that is drenched in funk.
824. "Uptown Girl" (Billy Joel, An Innocent Man, 1983)
When I get around to giving you my list of most important songs in my life, this will be in the top 5. It's one of the reasons I even have a record collection.
823. "Rich" (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Fever To Tell, 2003)
I rejected this at first, came back to it years later, and now rather enjoy it.
822. "Daysleeper" (R.E.M., Up, 1998)
Up is a solid album, I've given it a lot of time over the last 12 years.
821. "Bad Sun" (The Bravery, The Sun & the Moon, 2007)
When I had directv, I saw these guys on some music show, and kind of liked them. Over time, I began to tire of the records, but this song is still pretty cool.
