Fugazzi Grand III : My Top 500 Albums (#292 and #291)

(#292, Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen)

Much like the Songs: Ohia record I shared with you on Friday, this is not an album that many people haves danced or fucked to.  The music here is very minimal, and every sound you hear is played or voiced by The Boss himself.  The themes here are dark, but releasing this was a brave move on the part of Springsteen, as it was his least "commercial sounding" record to date.  My take is, when you're as good as Bruce Springsteen, you record what you want, when you want, and the label will LIKE IT!

Here's "Atlantic City" ...

(#291, Cardinology by Ryan Adams & The Cardinals)

Although this isn't the final release of Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, it was the last thing they recorded together.  The album has a certain warmth to it that I've always loved.  The musicianship is great, and it's too bad they aren't together anymore.

By the way, I love that when you go to the Ryan Adams wikipedia page, there's a note at the top of the page that says ...

"Not to be confused with Bryan Adams".  God, I bet Ryan Adams loves that !

This is "Born Into the Light" ...
